Biography

Dr. Samina Niaz Khattak is a US-trained psychiatrist with over 25 years of experience in outpatient psychiatric care. Born and raised in Peshawar, she comes from a family deeply rooted in social activism and literary engagement. Her personal connection to nature, people, and spirituality inspires her holistic approach to mental health, focusing not only on clinical treatment but also on emotional healing and community support.

She completed her MBBS from Khyber Medical College in 1987 and began her medical career as a Medical Officer with Kulsoom Maternity Home, Basic Health Unit Jamalabad, and Police Hospital. She later obtained a Diploma in Maternal and Child Health and served with the International Rescue Committee (IRC) as an Assistant Team Leader, where she encountered the widespread effects of trauma and loss. Motivated by this experience, she pursued Psychiatry in the United States and graduated from a Psychiatry Residency Program.

Dr. Khattak is a Diplomat of the American Board of Psychiatry & Neurology and holds certifications in Biofeedback and Somatic Experience Therapy. Her psychiatric practice emphasizes trauma-informed care, medication management, and patient-centered counseling.
