Biography

Prof. Dr. Abid Salahuddin is a highly experienced pediatrician with a strong background in neonatal and pediatric emergency care. He completed his MBBS from Khyber Medical College in 1998, followed by house job training at Hayatabad Medical Complex. After gaining initial experience in Peshawar, he moved to the United Kingdom, where he underwent comprehensive pediatric training and cleared the Royal College membership examinations. He was selected for specialist training under the Severn Deanery and worked for eight years in leading hospitals across the UK, including University College London Hospitals, Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge, and Kings College Hospital in London.

His clinical exposure spans General Pediatrics, Community Pediatrics, Neonatal Intensive Care, and Pediatric Intensive Care. Dr. Abid’s key interests include neonatal care and managing pediatric emergencies, particularly with invasive ventilation support.

He returned to Pakistan in 2010 and joined Pak International Medical College as Assistant Professor, where he helped establish the Department of Pediatrics. In 2013, he moved to Rehman Medical College and Institute, continuing his work in General Pediatrics, NICU, and PICU. Over the years, his dedication and expertise earned him the title of Professor of Pediatrics in 2022.

Deeply invested in medical education, Dr. Abid Salahuddin has served as a focal person for Pediatrics at Rehman Medical College, where he contributed significantly to undergraduate curriculum development. He is also a recognized supervisor for postgraduate MCPS and FCPS training and holds a Certificate in Health Professions Education (CHPE).

Now serving at Peshawar General Hospital, Prof. Dr. Abid Salahuddin is focused on developing affordable and high-quality neonatal and pediatric care services for the region.
