Nephrologists, as guardians of kidney health, diagnose and treat a wide spectrum of kidney-related conditions. These conditions can range from acute kidney injury, a sudden decline in kidney function requiring immediate medical attention, to chronic kidney disease, a gradual and progressive loss of kidney function over time. Nephrologists also address kidney stones, hard mineral deposits that form in the kidneys and can cause severe pain, and urinary tract infections, infections affecting any part of the urinary system, including the kidneys.
Depending on the specific kidney condition, nephrologists utilize various treatment approaches. These may include medication management to control symptoms, manage blood pressure, and slow disease progression. - Inpatient Nephrology Services: Tailored care offered for diverse nephrology patients, including those with acute kidney failure, nephritis, and critical care needs in intensive care units (ICUs), providing specialized attention and treatment.
- Interventional Nephrology: Specialized procedures performed by skilled nephrologists to address complex kidney issues, offering innovative solutions for improved patient outcomes.
- ICU and CCU Nephrology Care: Dedicated care provided to patients with kidney-related complications in intensive care units (ICUs) and coronary care units (CCUs), ensuring close monitoring and management of their condition.
